yes, we have much to write about. we spent 3 nights in sequoia,
and then we had halloween, so we're still recovering. in the
meantime, please to be enjoying this picture of margot at lake
hume looking like a cross between missy elliot and a fob doing
tai chi and video of her singing that she wants a pinecone as
martin carries her ass everywhere. it's tough being a kid...
as shonen knife. and yes, there are normally only 3 members, and yes
none of them are japanese, but WHATEVER. get over it.

as many of you know, we're practicing and evangelizing about
EC (elimination communication). margot's been poop trained for
a very long while now. before she was even verbal she was
signing that she had to use the bathroom.
the pees, well, we weren't as vigilant. for the last few weeks, we've
been doing diaper free time whenever we were at home. there have
been accidents.
so martin and i decided to take the plunge and only use underwear
during waking hours, no matter if we were home or not. the first few
days there were 1-2 accidents a day. it was a little frustrating, but
we felt with some patience and time, she would get it. we just needed
to be consistent.
this weekend we had our first day of NO ACCIDENTS!!! so exciting.
we know there will be some here and there for a very long time, but
an accident free day is so amazing to us! she might be totally potty
trained before she turns 2!
the only downside? underwear doesn't have as much coverage...

this weekend was CRAAAAZY busy.
saturday morning was charlie's 2nd birthday party! there was a
bounce house, a popcorn maker, lion cake and all sorts of fun stuff.
here are the kids on the couch pre-cake. they were much more
animated post-cake. check out charlie surrounded by all these lovely
asian ladies!
then i rushed to downtown to celebrate judy's birthday at the biltmore
in downtown. we had high tea and it was lovely. pictures here.
while we girls were at tea, sebastian and martin had a playdate with
the girls. margot absolutely loves kennedy and there was an instant
connection with her.
they were sitting together when margot started making faces, and kennedy
saw and started making faces. so cute!
look how dark margot is compared to kennedy. i guess we know who's the
peasant and who's the aristocrat.
here they are drawing together
was time for hugs.
sunday we had a yardsale which went well. then we had dinner at martin and wendy's house.
i finally met sarvi and aaron who i've been internet stalking. they're expecting a girl VERY SOON.

guess who made it on this season's homepage of the
kumquat baby website?
you can shop on their site, at a fine baby store near you, OR at their store
in eagle rock!
you know who else likes kumquat? the first family.
and striped legging.
jealous much?

it's darker in the mornings and getting darker earlier in the evenings
which only means the end of summer.
we celebrated or mourned by going to the trails and walking through
griffith park the last 3 weekends.
the first time was with margot's favorite person in the whole wide
world, bill. but first we followed an odor...
and some more hanging after noticing some dirt (sucio is dirty in spanish) on visit #3.
margot and martin usually go skateboarding early in the evenings before i
get home. usually it's fun. but when i'm home (i'm still #1, yay me!), all she
wants is mama.
she can work on her umbrella and puddle splashing skillz!

i think margot is spending too much time with my mom. she's
starting to develop a fobby accent.
evidence? here's her version of "london bridge is falling down"...

when i was on jury duty for three weeks, martin would drop me off
at the courthouse every morning. and every morning on our way there,
we'd listen to npr.
one day, out of nowhere, margot said, "obama!"
so we asked, "who's our president?", and she replied:
our hands? will she shake hands with all her friends?
created by martin, posted by jenny because martin is too lazy
margot's learning to feed herself with utensils(filipino style with spoon and fork). clearly she isn't that good at it yet...
